Coming to Terms with NAIT Part 1

To pick up where I left off in this post where I talk about deciding to go back to school, I was going to tell you a little about the first term…. keeping in mind that this was before Covid 19 was a blip on anyone’s radar!

Term one was mostly about getting all of us up and operational with the gear we owned and choosing gear that we would want to work with, introducing us to lighting, design principles, and editing. Those classes had assignments but the one that was both the most nerve-wracking and, arguably, the most fun was critique class. We had a weekly topic and had to shoot, edit, print and mat an image and then it would be presented to the class for review. In the first few classes, most of us were pale and a little shaky but by the end of term we were bringing popcorn and seeing so much more in all our images. On top of that, the class gave us a taste for seeing our images on display when they placed in the top six places.
